The biennial Trade and Sustainable Development Symposium, organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and held alongside the WTO ministerial conference for over a decade, is the leading multi-stakeholder platform for intellectual enquiry and dialogue on sustainable development and the global trade and investment system. It acts as an inclusive platform outside of the WTO negotiating setting for sharing ideas, engaging in dialogue, and influencing trade policy negotiations. Drawing in participants from government, business and civil society, the Symposium helps to maintain and elaborate a global vision of sustainable development in trade and investment policymaking.

I will explain my endeavor for setting up a cooperative bank for agriculture development. I work work with associations of young women in order to invest in clean water to prevent epidemics and pandemics. And I will explain how my organization supports industrial fishing and rice culture in the region of Bumba, Gemena, and Lisala.

I am eager to make a presentation about the topic "Women Entrepreneurs in Difficult Environment with a focus on fishery and agriculture in the Democratic Republic of Congo."

With my colleague Clarisse we can deliver a convincing statement to philanthropist and social (ethical) investors.

In Africa, especially in the Congo, women are the financial engine of the family. But in order to start a business or enhance their activities, banks and financial institutions impose drastic conditions on women, based on gender discrimination. Our team would like eventually access international support in order to facilitate credit access to women.

Our local network has selected thirteen women’s organizations who are capable of contributing successfully to the following selected main core sustainable development goals (SDG’s) that will impact positively their communities:
#1. No poverty.
#2. Zero hunger.
#6. Clean Water.
#12 - #14. Responsible production and consumption (i.e. agriculture and fishery.)
