The biennial Trade and Sustainable Development Symposium, organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and held alongside the WTO ministerial conference for over a decade, is the leading multi-stakeholder platform for intellectual enquiry and dialogue on sustainable development and the global trade and investment system. It acts as an inclusive platform outside of the WTO negotiating setting for sharing ideas, engaging in dialogue, and influencing trade policy negotiations. Drawing in participants from government, business and civil society, the Symposium helps to maintain and elaborate a global vision of sustainable development in trade and investment policymaking.

Hang is responsible for coordinating the Asian LDC portfolio, Haiti and some West African Francophone speaking countries at the Executive Secretariat for the EIF. A part from providing customised support to EIF countries on trade capacity development and leveraging of resources, Hang is also working on sustainability dimensions and best practices in the EIF. Before joining the EIF in 2011, Hang served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam Mission to the WTO and Director General of the Ministry of Trade of Vietnam. Hang was also the focal point of trade-related technical assistance at the Ministry of Trade and served as Director of the Multilateral Trade Policy Assistance Programme for 6 years. Hang holds a Master degree in Public Management from Singapore University and Kenney School of Government, focused on trade and industrial policies and has 20 years of experiences in the field of regional integration, trade policies, negotiations, research, training, technical assistance, project cycle management and monitoring and evaluation.
