Héctor Laiz received the diploma in electrical engineering from the University of Buenos Aires in 1988 and the Doctorate Degree from the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, in 1999. In 1989, he joined the INTI, the National Metrology Institute of Argentina, where he was engaged in the development electrical standards. He was guest scientist at the PTB, Germany, and at the NIST, USA. He published more than 50 peer reviewed papers in international journals and conference digests.From 1999 to 2010, he was Deputy Director of Metrology at INTI, dealing with scientific and legal metrology. Since 2010 he serves as Director of Metrology, Quality and Environment at INTI. In 2014 he was elected as President of the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM) and in 2016 he was elected member of the International Committee for Weights and Measurements (CIPM). Since 2014 he is member of the Quality Infrastructure Council for the Americas (QICA).
