Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne is the French State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was born on September 15th 1977, in Bourg-La-Reine, France, and studied at the “Institut d’études politiques” (“Sciences Po”) in Strasbourg, and at “l’ESSEC”. He worked for IBM for two years, and then worked as an advisor to Minister Jean-François Copé for several years. In 2007 he was appointed deputy general secretary of “UMP”, France’s main right-wing political party. He was first elected at the department level in 2008, and he was elected mayor and then senator both in 2014. He joined Emmanuel Macron’s newly formed government in June 2017, as State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is responsible for all matters related to trade policy, including free trade agreements and WTO negotiations.
